Backup2Go aids sleep

With sales of laptops and notebooks out-stripping desktops, having a flexible company backup policy is more critical than ever.

With PresSTORE Backup2Go from Archiware, we've got you covered - you'll be able to rest assured everything is safe. Simple setup and monitoring make this the most relaxing decision you'll ever make.

With Backup2Go, the laptop triggers a process to backup your valuable data - regardless of your location. You could be in the office, on the road or at home! The result is a reliable, secure and efficient backup procedure. Very little administration is required. The backup runs as a background process and saves data automatically to your central server as soon as your computer has access to a network.

Backup

  • Efficiency: Client-triggered backup.Conventionally, a laptop or desktop computer backup is managed and initiated by a server process. Backup2Go takes a different approach. Instead of the server checking which workstations or laptops are available, Backup2Go lets the laptop initiate its own backup as soon as a connection can be established to the server. This relieves both the server and the network from unnecessary load and traffic.
  • Reliability: Full backup even with interruptions. Interruptions during the backup process are no problem for PresSTORE Backup2Go. If a workstation or laptop is shut down or loses the network connection, the backup process is interrupted but resumes automatically as soon as it is on-line again. Incomplete backups are fully functional.

  • Flexible backup jobs: When a laptop or workstation is unable to establish a connection to the server, even after a long period of time, it will be started as soon as access to the server is available. This provides complete flexibility and protection of data, irrespective of if a user is away on business, on holiday or even working from home.
  • Maximum automation – minimal work: PresSTORE Backup2Go can be installed and configured within a couple of minutes and is ready to save your data automatically. Workstation 'templates' allow administrators to define and customise backup for any given workstation or groups of workstations. Scalability is therefore effortless and because the backup process is started by the workstation, data from 10s, 100s or even 1000s of clients can be added as required.

Restore

  • Simple, fast restore – both for administrators and users: With the well-designed, intuitive browser-based user interface, files can be restored with a few mouse clicks. The administrator can optionally allow the workstation user to restore their own data.

  • A time machine for your data: On both Mac and Windows, a complete history of a workstation's backups can be maintained. The backup index is displayed as time line and is simple to navigate. Users can view a file‘s history and retrieve a version backed up days, weeks or months previously.

Administration

  • Central control: Administrators can allow users to configure their own backup or they can override a user's parameters by using a workstation template defined on the server. The administrator has total control over individual backup plans and, as required, can enforce a consistent backup policy, using the following configuration parameters.

  • Configuration parameters: Filters to restrict the data saved, Backup interval, Encryption, Data compression, Bandwidth limit, Data retention, User restore

Comfort

  • Backup increments: Minimal server and network load. Since files are continuously backed up, even during long out-of-office periods, the volume of data for each backup increment remains small. Hence, network and server loads are kept to a minimum.

  • Seamless solution: PresSTORE Backup2Go runs seamlessly in the background while you work. Administrators can determine the network bandwidth to be used to match the type of work being saved and individual priorities.

Security
  • Encryption and management of privileges: Files can be encrypted while being transferred over a network and/or at point of storage. In addition, PresSTORE also backs up access rights and ACLs of a file. This protects files against unauthorised access after restore. Access to view a workstation's index of saved files is managed via group-based access rights.
