PresSTORE version 4.2 is scheduled for release mid-March 2011. It includes a much-requested feature that we think will simplify many backup-workflows. Let us explain a little detail...

Most of our customers backup to tape. Leaving all those tapes in one place is something you might regret if you have a fire, flood or some other unforeseen event. Therefore it's desirable to have backup tapes leaving site once written and returning back to the site only when they need to be updated with new data.

Configuring this in PresSTORE in the past has involved creating multiple backup 'plans' so that each is independent of the others and stores a separate copy of the backup. PresSTORE 4.2 simplifies this by allowing more than one pool of tapes to be assigned to a single backup plan. The product then takes care of ensuring all your data is written to each set of the pools of tapes each time they are made available.
