HELIOS builds Time Machine
Apple's Time Machine is a simple and effective way of backing up workstations, either locally to external drives, or over the network. Now, if you have an HELIOS server, you can use an EtherShare volumes as a Time Machine backup disk for Mac clients.
Simply use HELIOS Admin to enable "Time Machine Backup" in the volume configuration settings. If a HELIOS volume is mounted and 'Time Machine Backup' is enabled, Mac OS X clients will detect the volume via Bonjour, and it can be selected as a backup device. Backups are saved on the server with each workstation maintaining it's own space allocation. The Mac OS X boot DVD can be used to restore an entire machine from the backup - over the network.
If you have a workstation-backup requirement, then we recommend PresSTORE Backup2Go, but if you already use HELIOS products, this is a very useful development.
