Archiware updates PresSTORE to bring even more capabilities and refinement to the award winning backup, archive and synchronisation application.

PresSTORE, the enterprise backup, archive and synchronisation solution was today upgraded to version 2.3. the latest version of the award* winning software. PresSTORE is the only enterprise level backup, archive and synchronisation solution that works on Windows, Unix and OS X in exactly the same way, making it an excellent choice for mixed platform data management.

A swathe of new features includes full SCSI support for all contemporary tape drives and changers, for the first time on the Windows version. Also new is support for Netatalk, a freely available AppleTalk Protocol Suite, which is often employed in the Linux world as an AppleShare file server.

The OS X platform gets additional QuickTime graphics, audio and video previews. So users can be sure they have the right file before retrieving it from the archive. Although this feature has been available in the past, it required additional software from Helios.

There have also been improvements in the user interface of PresSTORE, making it even easier to use. Now administrators need not login every time, and the whole process of setting up and retrieving backups has been streamlined. The interface tweaks have been the result of customer requests, quickly built into the application.

PresSTORE continues to lead the way in support for mixed platform environment for enterprise users. Its multi-threaded architecture offers significant speed increases for many tasks. PresSTORE’s design allows it to operate multiple tape libraries in parallel, and utilise multiple processors such as the Intel Core Duo powered machines.
