PresSTORE 3 is released with a new user interface. With PresSTORE 3 there is a new look and feel. The user interface is updated to be even more user friendly. In particular, the configuration of disk based backup and archive has been simplified and optimised. It is now even easier for users to configure PresSTORE according to their individual needs.

Continuous Data Protection for Mac OS X and Windows. With PresSTORE 3, Synchronise can will automatically identify modified or changed data on a file system and continuously synchronise this to a second file system. This means no more lengthy scanning of the file system to determine what has been changed. By minimising the time frame between users making changes to files and their subsequent duplication to a second system, PresSTORE ensures maximum security.

Increased Data Security through Encryption. PresSTORE 3 now has two new encryption options to protect mission critical data against non-authorised access. With file encryption, data can be encoded directly at its source during a backup or archive process. To read the encrypted data a secret key is required. With more and more users storing data off-site in data centres, encryption provides a more protection and security for data held on computers that are not connected to a company's local area network. In addition, entire data streams can be encoded when synchronising, backing up or archiving data. With transfer encryption the possibility of snooping over-the-wire is greatly reduced.

PresSTORE 3 saves time with automated updates. A software update to the current version can mean a lot of work for the IT administrator, especially in large networks with multiple servers. PresSTORE 3.0 will seamlessly and automatically update any of its configured clients, both servers and workstations saving time and cost.

Job-Scheduler: More Flexibility with Backup. It's often necessary to save critical data several times a day so that users can access a very recent version in the event of data-loss. With new and extended job-scheduling options, PresSTORE 3.0 allows backup jobs to run on a completely flexible schedule. All possible requirements can easily be configured.

Space saving Storage of Synchronised data. PresSTORE Synchronize enables the synchronization of entire folder structures and provides them on a second system, e.g. on a hard disk. When synchronizing an identical file for the second time, it is not saved again, but a reference to the pre-existing file is established. Only modified files are stored. Vastly more efficient use of available storage can be achieved. Employing this same technology, several 'snapshots' of a file system can be retained - again increasing security at a comparatively low cost.

Simplified backup of databases on Windows. Thanks to the support of the Microsoft Volume Shadow Copy Service (VSS), it is now possible to back up open files in Windows. Therefore, Exchange servers and databases can be fully automatically backed up as a whole.

New File Server Support with Novell Storage Services (NSS) for Linux. With the seamless support of NSS file system, PresSTORE extends its list of the supported file servers. In addition to NSS, PresSTORE also supports UFS, ReiserFS, ext2, ext 3, JFS, VFS, ZFS, HFS as well as UFS, Xsan and NTFS file systems.

Flexible Licencing and New Bundles. PresSTORE 3 licensing offers users entirely new possibilities to best utilise their media available for storage. Most software solutions are licensed either based on hardware used for data storage, the operating system or on the data volume that needs to be managed. Users must decide in advance whether they want to backup their data on disk systems or on jukeboxes and buy appropriate licenses. This is not so with PresSTORE. With PresSTORE 3.0 the user has full flexibiility to allocate licences to whatever storage they wish to use. In case the requirements change in the course of time, licenses can be reallocated easily. An easy integration of additional disk systems supersedes the employment of cost-intensive virtual tape libraries.

For example, PresSTORE Workgroup Edition comes with 12 licences to managed tape, optical media and disk storage. 8 units can be assigned to an autoloader and 4 units can be used to store up to 2TB of data in Disk storage slots in the file system on any number of disks.
