PresSTORE Synchronise to backup server to disk
Backup server data disk-to-disk, from production server to backup server with PresSTORE Synchronise.![]()
We know it is imperative that server data is backed up. A daily backup is the most common form of protection. With the daily backup, an organisation can be sure their data is protected on a day-to-day basis. Therefore if there is a problem, data and files from the previous day can be restored. But what if the worst was to happen - fire, floods or simply the server just failed completely?
In cases such as these, it is likely that the organisation would be without a server and data for at least 24 hours. So what harm can that do? - A LOT! - 24 hours downtime, no production, lost revenue due to cancelled jobs, a damaged reputation and don't forget your employees may be sitting around idle just because they do not have access to the all important company data! These are just a few points to ponder on! So it's worth taking a look at a solution that offers backup through the working day...
Synchronise backup
- Synchronise data from server/storage to server storage.
- Ideal for sites where downtime is not an option
- Short-term protection of data (minutes/hours)
- Continuous data protection
- Store cycles
- Keep file versions
- Protection against hardware/building failures
- Easy off-site replication
- Synchronise more than one server if backup storage is available

Considerations
- Identify your data protection needs
- Decide what data should be protected short term
- Decide how often data should be replicated
- Look at total data set + how much changes
- Should you keep file versions
- Will cycles of data be held - 1 or more days?
- Off-site protection of data is important and is definitely worth considering if not in place already
- Check Internet/VPN connection speeds particularly of site
- Can users be switched quickly to the backup server if needed?
- If data is not synchronised off-site, should alternative arrangements be considered?
